Tonight the moon appears
Like a wound of fire.
Not broken
but remembering
ancient wars
of light and shadow.
Earth stands between
Sun and silver moon
casting its brief doubt
upon eternity.
Yet even in a crimson quietiude
the moon does not vanish.
It glows
like truth tested by darkness.
O red oracle of the sky,
teach us this quiet courage:
to burn softly,
even when the world
turns its shadow upon us.
