Lt. Col. Raj Kumar Thapa of the 30 A Bn, AP Telangana Directorate, has launched the book The Poet Speaks: Interviews, Conversations and Dialogues, which I edited. Adi Publications, Jaipur, published the book.
Dr. KV Raghupati has written 32 books over his 40-year writing career, of which 6 focus on Yoga. He is a regular columnist for 'Speaking Tree' in the Times of India. His poems, short stories, and critical articles have appeared in national and international journals. He regularly writes for Sapthagiri English (TTD), Vedanta Kesari (Ramakrishna Mission), and Sri Aurobindo's Action (Pondicherry).
The book represents a new experiment and a unique concept in literature. Interviews are prominent in print, TV, and social media. We generally teach job interviews to students.
Nowadays, interviews with authors who have published just a single book are increasingly featured in daily newspapers. However, interviewing an experienced author who has been in the writing field for over thirty or forty years makes a difference. Such interviews contain the knowledge and wisdom the author accumulates throughout their career. They also shed light on personal information that the author may never have shared in their books. An experienced author is a reservoir of knowledge about writing, philosophy, publication, and much more. For this special reason, I undertook the unique task of collecting both published and unpublished interviews for publication. I hope it's the first of its kind.
The book includes thirteen interviews, conversations, and dialogues with the poet K.V. Raghupati, who discusses his four-decade-long journey in writing poetry, his thoughts, and his philosophy.
The third-semester English syllabus focuses on conversations, interviews, and dialogues. I feel excited and honored to donate this book to Dr. Harsha Latha, Principal of GDC Rayachoty, as a library copy for the benefit of UG students.
